The BMA produces award ceremonies in the cities of Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento,
Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, Detroit, and Atlanta. Each Chapter hosts an awards ceremony to
honor and recognize the African American contributors in music who are musicians, educators,
entertainers, writers, producers, managers and others who are from these particular regions.
Over 200 different artists are nominated by selection committees and then announced at the Awards Show. Each Chapter also has an opportunity to elect those deserving into the Black Music Hall of Fame.
THE AMERICAN BLACK MUSIC AWARDS & LATIN MUSIC AWARDS
These ceremonies are held each year to recognize the current stars, music leaders of today and our
honors those who have built a lasting legacy in music. The Honors recipients have international
prominence and influence among millions, and we take pride in holding their prestige high for
the rest of the world to acknowledge and join us in honoring. This event is also utilized to
recognize nominees from the host Chapter city.
BMA'S MUSIC FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS
Our Financial Literary Preparation workshops are focused program that deals directly with the educational needs of performers and artists. We work closely with the artists at age
levels 13-60 so they can develop an understanding on investments, banking, contracts, residuals, and other important aspects that come with earnings responsibilities in a new digital world. The seminars are delivered by financial institutions, attorneys, fellow entertainers and learned business
educators.

The mission of the BMA is to cultivate, motivate and invigorate the music, the artists and the music lover. We achieve our mission by recognizing the new talents of America, creating new opportunities through music and paying honor to legendary artists.
